The Institutional Risk Management Section oversees Risk Management (RM) activities. RM is a continuous process that aims to monitor, assess, and respond to potential events that could create uncertainty in the achievement of QU’s objectives.
The main goal of the RM process is to address risks through a centralized, holistic approach, rather than independently within units or functions. Addressing risks from a university-wide perspective gives employees the opportunity to learn how their individual actions affect not only their own goals but also QU’s strategic goals as a whole. RM procedures at QU will be based on ISO 31000:2018 standards.
Below are RM objectives:
- Contribute to the achievement of Qatar National Vision 2030 in collaboration with SAB.
- Identify and assess a broad range of risks, threats, and opportunities that could affect the achievement of institutional goals and objectives.
- Create a culture of risk management across the campus in order to engage QU employees in the identification, prioritization, and reporting of risks.
- Ensure appropriate ownership and accountably of risks.
- Provide executive leadership with key information on risk, so that decisions can be made on how to allocate QU resources most effectively.
