What is STATA?

Stata is a complete, integrated software package that provides all your data science needs—data manipulation, visualization, statistics, and automated reporting. It has both a command line and graphical user interface making the use of the software more intuitive.

The Current version available at QU is STATA 18/SE

How Do I install STATA on my University's Computer?

1. On Windows, press the windows button  from Keyboard
2. Type Software Center and press enter
3. Double Click on STATA application name in the middle of the window
4. Click on Install button.  It will start installing the STATA on your device 
5. It will show Installed once STATA is installed
6. Now click on windows button  and type STATA and launch it

Note: You can reinstall the STATA from the same method after your laptop/desktop is formatted

How Do I install STATA on my personal Windows Computer?

Download and install the software STATA/SE from the link: Stata18.msi

After installing your STATA on your personal computer, you will need to visit one of the following ITS locations to activate STATA before you can run it the first time:

• B03 – ITS building, ground floor 8:00 am till 3:00 pm
• C01 – ITS counter, 8:00 am till 3:00 pm 

How Do I install STATA on my personal Mac Computer?

Download and install the software STATA/SE from the link Stata.pkg

After installing your STATA on your personal Mac computer, you will need to visit one of the following ITS locations to activate STATA before you can run it the first time:

• B03 – ITS building, ground floor 8:00 am till 3:00 pm
• C01 – ITS counter, 8:00 am till 3:00 pm 

How Do Run STATA from the University's server (Citrix)?

You can access STATA without installation on your local computer through cloud.qu.edu.qa with your QU credentials.

Is STATA available on the QU Computer Labs?

STATA 18/SE is installed in the following College labs across QU:

• CBE – H08D104, H08B104 and H08A204
• CAS – BCRD126, C01F110, and C01A201
• COE – H07 Labs

What is MATLAB?

MATLAB is a widely recognized and essential tool utilized by millions of engineers and scientists worldwide. It serves a multitude of applications, both in industry and academia, including deep learning and machine learning, signal processing and communications, image and video processing, control systems, test and measurement, computational finance, and computational biology.

How can I access MATLAB?

1. Visit QU MATLAB Portal from the link MATLAB
2. Click on Sign in to get Started button under Desktop. Online. Mobile box as shown below.
   
   
   
3. Create new account in Mathworks with QU email ID.
4. It will send email to your QU account for verification. Open the email, verify your account, and setup your password for Mathworks account. If you don’t get email in Inbox, check Junk or spam folder for email. Your password should be different than QU email password.
5. Once login to Portal, click on Get Started button
6. Click on Install MATLAB to install Matlab on your device

Matlab in QU Lab Computers

MATLAB with ALL add-on has been installed in following labs across QU:

• College of Engineering (H07)
• College of Business and Economics (H08)
• College of Arts and Science (C01)

Please note that you have to use your Mathworks account for accessing MATLAB in Personal and QU computers in the labs. If you face any problem, please send email to helpdesk@qu.edu.qa  with screen shot of the error.
