Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) program is concerned with the design, improvement, and installation of integrated systems of people, materials, and equipment. It draws upon specialized knowledge and skill from the mathematical, physical, and social sciences, together with the principles and methods of engineering analysis, to design, specify, predict, and analyze the results obtained from such systems.
Graduates of the ISE program work in diverse fields, for example in the government, universities, oil and gas sector, manufacturing sectors, business sectors, banks, healthcare and many other fields. These engineers make things work better, safer, and more economical. A distinguishing feature of the ISE discipline is the integration of humans, machines, materials and information, in order to optimize the performance of such systems using available resources in the most efficient way, but without degrading social and physical environments. Unlike the other engineering disciplines that focus their attention purely on the technical aspects of a system, the ISE graduates incorporate human and economic considerations in systems design.
The Industrial and Systems Engineering Program at Qatar University is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org., under the commission’s General Criteria and the following two Program Criteria: (i) Industrial and Similarly Named Engineering Programs, and (ii) Systems and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
The accreditation ensures that the program meets the quality standards and produces graduates prepared to enter a global workforce.
