The DAUP is housed in the Engineering Building (C07) on the female campus at Qatar University. Our educational spaces are fully equipped with the latest technological infrastructure for studio spaces and classrooms to support students for their five years of study in preparation for their professional career, including:
5 Design Studio Spaces, each accommodating between 24 to 30 students with state of the art furniture and broadband Internet connections. Space planning allows for maximum flexibility for instruction and offers opportunities for different spatial organizations to facilitate individual and collaborative work.
Exhibition Spaces, accommodating up to 60 A0 boards and model display areas. Our exhibition spaces benefit from the provision of natural light in the building design.
The DAUP continues to progressively promote its teaching and research facilities to meet world standards. This is clear in the addition and update of labs that not only support related courses such as construction materials and environmental control but also provide for our design studios. The design process is a process of learning from theory to experiment to a solution. The experimental stage includes testing and measuring the physical parameters of models at different scales and level of detail to facilitate the bridge from abstract theory to a practical solution including a 3D Digital Fabrication Laboratory, which was recently opened in our department
