About Us
The international Math-teachers professionalization using lesson study in Qatar University (IMPULS-QU) joint efforts in partnership between the Qatar University and Tokyo-Gakugei University in Japan.
The lesson study project is an advanced learning approach that applies a systematic and strong model of professional development for primary and preparatory school teachers in Qatar.
Our Objectives
Build professional learning communities for mathematics teachers through lesson planning, implementation, and lesson reflection sessions where student learning is a focal point.
Enable teachers to self-reflect on their own professional practices and performance for continuous professional development.
Develop student's critical and creative thinking skills through problem solving methods.

Math Teachers in Qatari Schools, primary and preparatory stages
Our Events
The National Center for Educational Development holds an annual Lesson Research Forum at the College of Education- Qatar University, which discusses the following topics:
- Exhibits the aspects of joint collaboration between Qatar University, represented by the National Center for Educational Development and Tokyo Gakugei University, Japan, represented by the IMPULS International Project, and the international and local educational institutions interested in teaching mathematics.
- Highlighting the process of the research project examined during the work cycle of the project and its future visions.
- Presenting a lesson that models the implementation of problem solving strategies in the classroom.
Previous forums:
- First Lesson Study Forum was held in March 2017, in which Ibn Sina Model School for Boys presented the research lesson.
- Second Lesson Study Forum was held in March 2018, in which Al Markhiya Primary School for Girls presented research lesson.
- Third Lesson Study Forum was held in February 2019, in which Al -Bayan Primary School for Girls presented the research lesson.
- Fourth Lesson Study Forum was held in February 2020, in which Al Daayen Primary School for Girls presented the research lesson.
