The Environmental Science Center (ESC) conducts environmental applied research. Its research clusters, namely: The Marine Science Cluster, that encompasses Physical and Chemical Oceanography; Marine Biology; the Atmospheric Science Cluster; and the Earth & Terrestrial Science Cluster. The ESC’s research strategy is aligned Qatar’s 2030 National Vision with respect to: “The management of the environment such that there is harmony between economic growth, social development and environmental protection”. At the ESC we strive to involve our faculty members, researchers and students in our research and services, and make our facilities available wherever there is an opportunity to serve the community.
The Objective
The summer internship at the ESC is geared to helping the intern apply the knowledge theory acquired in the traditional courses; it aids the student in getting a feel for the work environment. While boosting their confidence in analytical techniques.
Some of the core benefits of the summer internship at the ESC is network building, getting to known the ESC mission and its staff from the various scientific backgrounds and increasing the students motivation to pursue a career in environmental analysis. In the long run the candidate’s CV will be boosted with the knowledge acquired during the internship and their ability to conduct scientific analytical research will be greatly boosted.
The Program
Most of the ESC internship is hands-on, but due to the current situation and amid a pandemic the Environmental Science Center is pleased to announce its first participation in the QU Online Summer Research Internship 2021 according to the following schedule:
