Community Service and Continuing Education Center organized Train the Trainers TOT training program for 3 groups of employees of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation - Kahramaa.
This distinguished initiative from Kahramaa is to qualify a number of employees to implement training programs in technical fields, transfer their skills and knowledge to their colleagues and promote the concept of sustainability.
The course included many objectives, the most important of which was to provide trainees with the basic skills to deliver training programs professionally, possess confidence, build familiarity between the trainer and the trainees and motivate the trainees. In addition to learning basic speech skills that prepare the trainee to be an organized and influential speaker, the program also provided the knowledge of writing training objectives and understanding the basic principles of preparing training courses.
The course included a set of activities and practical exercises, which witnessed a distinctive interaction and enthusiasm from the trainees. Trainees did daily presentations by applying the seven steps of learning and exhibited their physical and vocal presentation skills.
Train the Trainer for Welcoming the World - FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM -Service Excellence
A training of trainers program was presented to welcome the fans of the World Cup - FIFA Qatar 2022 - in cooperation with the Supreme Committee for Legacy and Projects. The program targeted trainers for workers in the first ranks of the concerned employees in receiving and serving the World Cup fans from various sectors, governmental and security institutions, Hamad International Airport, the health sector, the transportation sector and customs. Eighteen training groups have been provided and more than four hundred coaches from different authorities in the country have been trained to contribute to the success of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 event.
Annual Recognition Day for Community Service and Continuing Education Center
The Community Service and Continuing Education Center at Qatar University held an annual recognition ceremony, for the academic year 2021-2022 on Sunday, September 4, 2022, in the presence of Dr. Khaled Al-Khanji - Head of Strategy and Development and Dr. Rajab Al-Ismail - Director of the Community Service Center and Continuing education Center.
In this ceremony, professors from outside and inside Qatar University were honored, in addition to the organizations collaborating with the center in providing training programs and accredited certificates, such as Pioneers Academy, Aspire Logistics, Afif Charity, State Audit Bureau and Barwa Real Estate.
In his speech during the ceremony, Dr. Rajab Al-Ismail welcomed all and stated that this celebration comes after series of successes achieved by the center. He also stated that the mission of the center, is to make learning available to a large segment of society members by designing programs and providing continuing education opportunities for adult learners to improve their skills and knowledge, thereby having a positive impact on their responsibilities and duties.

Signing of MOU with Aspire Zone Foundation
Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) and The Community Service and Continuing Education Center at Qatar University, signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at the AZF headquarters.
The memorandum was signed in the presence of Mr. Abdulla Nasser Al-Naemi, Director General at Aspire Logistics, Dr. Khaled Al-Khanji, Head of Strategy and Development at Qatar University, and a number of senior officials.
The memorandum dealt with prospects for development and strengthening cooperation in the areas of training, development, program delivery and benefiting from common capabilities to contribute in raising the efficiency of the target groups. In addition, seeking to develop the skills and capabilities of human cadres.
This memorandum is a starting point for a new phase of cooperation in the framework of supporting and strengthening the partnership between the two parties. It will help to benefit from the expertise and capabilities available to both parties and employ them in achieving a sustainable and effective development in various fields.
Signing of an agreement between Community Service and Continuing Education Center and Afif CharitableFoundation
Community Service and Continuing Education Center has signed an agreement regarding cooperation in the field of training courses, development and provision of programs in community service with Afif Charitable Foundation. The programs targeted young people of both sexes, which in turn will contribute to advancing development in various fields.
Dr. Rajab Abdullah Al-Ismail, Director of Community Service and Continuing Education Center at Qatar University, stated the importance of cooperation and partnerships with government sectors and civil society in Qatar and abroad, as the field of community participation is at the heart of Qatar University’s mission and vision, as it is committed to ensuring a rich environment on campus. The university encourages academic excellence, volunteer work and civic responsibility, and the university is working to enhance its goal to become a leader in economic and social development in the State of Qatar. The cooperation agreement with Afif Charitable Foundation embodies the role of Community Service and Continuing Education Center in providing programs and training courses for special groups in society.
On the other hand, Mrs. Zulaikha Al-Asmakh, Acting CEO of the Afif Charitable Foundation, stressed the extent of Afif Foundation's keenness to form strategic partnerships in implementing targeted activities, plans and training programs, and intensifying efforts to provide the best capabilities and expertise to achieve common goals and benefit the community. Mrs. Zulekha Al-Asmakh pointed out that the partnership with Qatar University is distinguished and of a different nature. Afif Foundation's endeavor to hold this kind of strategic partnerships with trusted bodies in Qatari society. They will contribute to raising the efficiency of young people by opening up ways and opportunities for economic empowerment for them. Al-Asmakh reported Empowerment is one of the pillars of work on which the programs and activities of Afif Foundation are based. It shares in this aspect with Community Service and Continuing Education Center at Qatar University, which seeks to serve the community and meet its training needs that aim to advance the capabilities of community members by providing programs and courses with relevant bodies and experience and position in the field of training and development.
Signing of MOU between Community Service and Continuing Education Center and General Authority of Customs
The Community Service and Continuing Education Center at Qatar University has signed a memorandum of understanding with the General Authority of Customs, with the aim of developing and strengthening ways of joint cooperation in the fields of training, exchanging experiences and benefiting from the joint capabilities of both Qatar University and the Customs Training Center.
The MOU was signed on behalf of Qatar University by Dr. Khalid Mohammed Al-Khanji, Head of Strategy and Development and on behalf of the General Authority of Customs, Mr. Mubarak Ibrahim Al-Buainain, Director of the Customs Training Center.
Mr. Mubarak Ibrahim Al Buainain, Director of the Customs Training Center, said: The signing of the memorandum of understanding with Qatar University comes as a continuation of the development requirements in raising the professional level of the employees, keeping in pace with the best practices and methods offered by both parties.
Dr. Khalid Muhammad Al-Khanji, Head of Strategy and Development, stressed that signing the MOU with the General Authority of Customs comes as a continuation of the role played by each of the two parties in supporting the educational aspect of national human cadres, and devising all means and mechanisms that help advance their educational and cultural levels.
The memorandum of understanding also included the existence of joint coordination between the two sides in a number of other diverse fields, including the Arab Cup 2021 and the 2022 World Cup, and various state-sponsored events.
Cooperation between Community Service and Continuing Education Center and the Shafallah Center
Community Service and Continuing Education Center, in cooperation with Shafallah Center, has offered a set of free programs in the distance learning system during the year 2020/2021, believing in the center’s responsibilities and duty towards the community and its members. The programs targeted parents of children who have special needs and people who work with these children. The programs that been offered were focusing on, for example, the emotional responses for the birth of a child with autism and how to deal with children with developmental and intellectual disabilities. There were also programs for parents in general, such as the negative effects of modern technology on children.
The Shafallah Center honored the Community Service and Continuing Education Center at Qatar University in recognition of its contribution to spreading awareness in the Qatari community.
Distance Learning Courses
Qatar University - Community Service and Continuing Education Center (CCE) offers a series of distance learning courses in line with the University and State's efforts to reduce the spread of Covid19 pandemic and to protect members of the society.
CCE is offering free distance learning courses in the field of Finance, Nutrition, Emotional Intelligence, Disaster Management and Crisis Management. These courses aims to engage participants in building their personal and professional skills without having to leave their homes.
CCE is also offering e-Learning courses in collaboration with Cegos, a worldwide leader in training and development, with twenty years’ experience in developing e-learning content. Through our collaboration with Cegos we have expanded our offerings to further empower our lifelong learners. Individuals will be able to develop their soft skills effectively in a self-paced environment in a number of languages tailored to the target learner. Our e-Learning catalogue includes courses in Management & Leadership , Applied Personal Development, Professional Efficiency, Project Management , Finance , Marketing & Innovation , Sales and Purchasing.
In addition, Community Service and Continuing Education Center offers online preparation courses for IELTS and TOEFL at affordable prices in collaboration with EduSynch USA. These courses can help students improve their performance to obtain high scores in these tests that qualify them for admission to universities both at the bachelor's or postgraduate level.
Advanced HAZMAT Life Support (AHLS) training course
The Community Service and Continuing Education Center (CCE) successfully concludes the delivery of Advanced HAZMAT Life Support (AHLS) training course in collaboration with the University of Arizona, USA. This training program happens for the first time in Qatar. AHLS is a comprehensive training program that introduces healthcare professionals, including paramedics, nurses, doctors and military medical personnel to a systematic approach to medically manage patients who are exposed to hazardous and poisonous substances. A group of emergency care providers from Hamad Hospital and HMC Ambulance completed the course successfully with a generous sponsorship by the Ministry of Public Health.
It is worth mentioning that exposures to hazardous substances might happen to individuals or to groups of people as in mass casualties andin terrorism incidents. This unique 16-hours training program equips health care providers with the necessary knowledge to approach and handle victims of such incidents.
Annual Recognition Day for Community Service and Continuing Education Center.
The Community Service and Continuing Education Center at Qatar University hosted the annual recognition day ceremony for the professors participating in providing training courses for the academic year 2018-2019, on Thursday, 24 October 2019.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Hassan bin Rashid Al Dirham, President of Qatar University, Dr. Darwish Abdul Rahman Al Emadi, Head of Strategy and Development, Dr. Rajab Al Ismail, Director of Community Service and Continuing Education Center, and the guests of honor of the ceremony, Dr. Sheikh Thani Bin Ali Al Thani - chairperson of the Board of International Relations at Qatar Chamber and Mr. Hamad bin Khalifa Al Khalifa - Assistant Undersecretary for Common Services Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.
In his speech, Dr. Rajab Al-Esmail said: “As this celebration comes after a new series of successes achieved by the Center in the last academic year 2018-2019, we gather in this ceremony to honor the professors and trainers who contributed to the achievement of the center’s objectives and provided more than 6000 hours of training with the participation of 190 trainers and more than 60 organizations and institutions where the Center offers various specialized training programs in various fields.
Closing event for Qualification and Preparation for Arbitrators training course
The Center for Community Service and Continuing Education in cooperation with the Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration - Qatar Chamber, organized the closing event for the training course Qualification and preparation for arbitrators .
Certificates were distributed to participants who passed all the blocks. The event was attended by Dr. Thani bin Ali Al-Thani, member of the Board of Directors of International Relations at the Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration, and Dr. Rajab Abdullah Al-Ismail, Director of the Center for Community Service and Continuing Education.
The center looks forward to offering this course again in the coming academic year.
Arabic Language Program for Turkish Judges
In the first cooperation of its kind with Legal and Judicial Studies Center at Ministry of Justice, the Community Service and Continuing Education Center at Qatar University, in collaborations with Arabic for Non-Native Speakers Center , organizes an Arabic language program for a number of Turkish judges. The program lasts for one year and is divided into three basic courses for the general Arabic language with its four skills: listening, conversation, writing and reading, while the fourth course is devoted to the study of specialized Arabic language in the field of Law and judiciary. To that end, a combination of training methods will be adopted: particularly lectures, seminars, discussion groups, presentation, drills and practical activities will be utilizes by specialized faculty in all classes.
The program aims to teaching Arabic in its various fields of knowledge, in addition to other set of objectives such as teaching the participants the Arabic voices in reading, writing and providing them with the vocabulary, rules and structures needed to develop their four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking). This course will also provide them with different terms and concepts to understand the Arabic texts properly, considering that the Arabic language is among the five most important languages in the world.
Renewal of Agreement with Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration
The Community Service and Continuing Education Center at Qatar University has renewed the ccollaboration with Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration, Qatar Chamber for the academic year 2018-2019 to organize training courses in the fields of arbitration and law. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Sheikh Thani bin Ali Al-Thani member of the Board of Directors for International Relations, Dr. Darwish Al-Emadi, Chief Strategy & Development Officer at Qatar University, and Dr. Rajab Abdullah Al Esmail, Director of Community Service and Continuing Education Center.
The agreement deals to organize the series of courses agreed between the parties in various branches of law, commerce and arbitration. In addition, it was agreed to offer a Arbitration certification program of preparing and qualifying Qatari and resident arbitrators, to improve their legal skills and provide them with required legal knowledge. Such courses are available directly through the Center's website. The courses held during the past year 2017-2018 have been very successful and have been highly appreciated.
Signing of MoU between QU and Mental Helath Friends Association- WEYAK
Qatar University, represented by the Center for Community Service and Continuing Education, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Mental Health Friends Association- WEYAK at a conference held on October 15, 2018 at Doha Hilton Hotel . The MoU was signed by Dr. Darwish Al Emadi, Head of Strategic and Development Qatar University, in the presence of Dr. Rajab Al Esmail, Director of for Community Service and Continuing Education Center . On the other hand, Mr. Hassan Al Ghanim, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, signed the MoU with Mr. Mohammed Al Binali, Chairman of the Board of Directors. The MoU aims at cooperation between the two parties in providing courses and workshops on all matters of interest to the community in the field of mental health. The course will be provided free of charge or at a nominal fee to promote what the parties seek to serve the community and raise awareness about mental and social health issues.
The Center for Community Service and Continuing Education celebrates ISO 9001: 2015 certification
The Center of Community Service and Continuing Education celebrated certification of ISO 9001 for quality management systems on April 18, in recognition of its continuing commitment to quality and excellence in management operations.
The certificate was presented to Center of Community Service and Continuing Education Director Dr Rajab Abdulla Al-Esmail by Bureau Veritas Country Chief Executive Mr Selim Kseib in the presence of QU President Dr Hassan Al Derham, French Ambassador to Qatar H.E. Eric Chevallier, Bureau Veritas Business Line Manager System Certification Services Mr Vishal Bhat and Sales Manager System Certification Services Mr Makram Abou-Fakherddine, as well as QU leaders and staff.
In his remarks, Dr Hassan Al Derham said: “It is important for Qatar University to achieve its goals in line with the highest quality standards. Excellence is an important value that we must spread among us and in our daily life. Through such certificates, we aim to maintain our standards of highest quality. Qatar Chamber Courses.
The Center of Continuing Education offers a range of training programs and courses with Qatar Chamber, which aims to meet the needs of participants, improve their legal skills, and learn about legal issues that protect the rights of business companies when contracting with other companies.
Based on the agreement with Qatar Chamber, “Establishing Commercial Companies and Agencies” Program, was the fourth training course in a range of other training courses, was implemented.
The training sessions will continue in the field of law, investment, banking and international trade. The next courses will be “Commercial Arbitration procedures at Arbitration centers" which will be held at Qatar University from 28 January to 1 February.
Qatar National Day Celebrations.
Center of Community Service and Continuing Education at Qatar University celebrated Qatar National Day on December 12, which reflected the country’s legacy, culture and traditions.
The opening started with raising of the National day slogan by Dr. Rajab Abdullah Al Esmail - Director of Continuing Education, with the participation of staff of the center and a number of guests from inside and outside the university.
The event offered a range of traditional local food and drinks, with a beautiful musical background of national songs that showed a spirit of loyalty to all citizens and residents.
Collaboration between CCE and Qatar Chamber of Commerce to offer training courses in Law.
Center of Continuing Education at Qatar University and Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration, Qatar Chamber, has signed a cooperation agreement to implement a series of training programs in the field of law, investment and trade for the academic year 2017-2018. These training courses aims to provide participants with the necessary legal skills and knowledge of legal issues that help to protect the rights of companies. The signing of the agreement was attended by HE Dr. Thani Bin Ali Al Thani - Board Member of the Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration, Qatar Chamber , Dr. Rajab Abdullah Al Esmail - Director of Continuing Education and Dr. Darwish Al Emadi- Vice President of Qatar University for Strategy and Development.
Franklin Covey Training for QU employee
CNAP – Certified Non-Profit Accounting Professional training
The Qatar University Center of Continuing Education in collaboration with Fiscal Management Associates (FMA), LLC, based in the US, offered the certification program CNAP – Certified Non-Profit Accounting Professional from April 25th until April 27th - 2017.
CNAP is a copyright-protected US training program developed by the National Association of Nonprofit Accountants & Consultants (NPAC) in the US. CNAP is the only U.S. recognized certificate program for nonprofit accounting professionals. This course was attended by 16 delegates from non-profit organizations, including but not limited to Qatar Red Crescent, Virginia Commonwealth University - Qatar, Weill Cornell Medicine –Qatar, Northwestern University in Qatar, Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research –UAE.
The course was delivered by the representative of FMA in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, Ms Pateel Papazian. Pateel holds a CPA license from the state of California and has and EMBA degree.
Business Management Executive training course for Kahramaa Employees
The Center of Continuing Education (CCE) offered a Business Management Executive training course targeting Managers and Section Heads of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation – Kahramaa. CCE held the training for 3 groups of Section Heads and 2 groups of Managers in the months of March, April & May 2017.
The objectives of the course are serving three dimensions; provide a solid foundation in the planning framework for cost-benefit studies, develop the essential skills required to understand the processes of costing and budgeting within organizations; and to address the role of corporate finance in organizations and the tools used to evaluate investment proposals.
The outcomes of the course are:
- Gain knowledge and experience on how to apply concepts of cost benefits analysis in a manner that follows international best practices.
- Understand the importance of a well-defined costing and budgeting process.
- Learn the role of corporate finance in organizations.
The course was delivered by Dr. Emad Awadallah, Associate Professor of Accounting, College of Business and Economics, Qatar University.

GCC Meeting of Centers of Community Service and Continuing Education.
The Center of Continuing Education (CCE) hosted on March 28-29 the 23rd Meeting of the Deans of Deanships, Colleges and Community Service Centers in the GCC, aimed at exploring collaboration opportunities to develop methods of continuing education and community service due to the changes that occur in the educational and technological framework at the global and local level.
The 2-day event drew the participation of over 30 deans and directors of community service and continuing education centers in the GCC. They shared their ideas and experiences on a wide range of issues related to continuing education and community service.
