Gulf Crisis: Origin, Repercussions and Future
The Legislative and Shura Councils in the Gulf Region: Political and Legislative Performance [17th-18th November, 2016]
This workshop is the first of two resulting from a research project co-organized by Gulf Studies and Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Gulf Office. The project adresses the political and legislative performance of the Shura councils and parliaments in the Gulf region, including the six Gulf Cooperation Council states, Iran, Iraq (including Kurdistan) and Yemen. The second workshop will take place on September 2016, and a edited book will be the result of the research project.
Understanding Iran's internal dynamics and external behavior [13th-14th March, 2016]
On March 13-14th 2015, the Gulf Studies Center hosted a workshop in partnership with Chatham House. Speakers from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Emirates, Qatar, United Kingdom, Germany and Australia discussed on a wide-range of topics related to Iranian politics and foreign policy: the role of political factions; the legislative elections and the future of Rohani; the impact of sanctions lifting on Iranian economy; Rohani's foreign policy and the Iranian relations with the GCC states after the nuclear deal.
V4 and the Middle East: Relations, Interests and Prospects [20th October, 2015]
The V-4 Conference was organized in collaboration with Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade in Hungary to explore links and relations between the Visegrad countries (Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia) and the Middle East. The project was funded by the Visegrad fund, and the Gulf Studies Center at the College of Arts and Sciences at Qatar University.

Violent Non-State Actors in the Middle East [14th-15th October, 2015]
On October 14-15th 2015, the Gulf Studies Center hosted a workshop on violent non-state actors in the Middle East in partnership with the Middle East Institute at the National University of Singapore. Speakers from both the MEI and Qatar University presented on a wide-range of topics and non-state groups in the Middle East, including: ISIS, Al Shabab, Hezbollah, and Hamas among many others.
Overcoming Prejudices: Islam and the West [18th-19th May, 2015]
In May 2015, the Gulf Studies Center hosted a major conference in collaboration with the Gulf Regional Office of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (based in Amman, Jordan) on the topic of “Islam and the West.” The conference focused on contemporary events in Europe, freedom of expression, and the rise of radical movements in the Middle East as well as European politics.

The Repercussions of the GCC led Decisive Storm in Yemen [11th June 2015]
On June 11th 2015, the Gulf Studies Center hosted an academic talk on the repercussions of the GCC led Decisive Storm in Yemen in collaboration with ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems International Qatar. Dr. I. Loukas and Dr. Fourakis delivered talks on the impacts of the Decisive Storm in the region.
Mapping Foreign Policy in the GCC: Resources, Recipients and Regional Effects [22nd February 2015]
On December 22nd February 2015, the Gulf Studies Center hosted a one-day workshop of Mapping Foreign Policy in the GCC: Resources, Recipients and Regional Effects in collaboration with the Middle East Center of the London School of Economics. The workshop was part of a larger project that seeks to outline both the drivers and effects of GCC states respective foreign policies in the wider region since 2011.
