    Call for papers: International Conference on

    The Future of China's Presence in the Islamic World in Light of Regional and International Challenges

    April 4-5, 2020

    This conference aims to assess the future of China's presence in the Islamic world in light of various regional and international challenges. Due to the scarcity of research and studies on the Chinese presence in the Islamic world, this scientific conference aims to gather graduate students, scholars and decision-makers to discuss the following axes:

    • The Political and Strategic Axis: Including all research related to the political interactions of the Chinese actors in the Islamic world and the impact on national and regional strategic calculations
    • The Military and Security Axis: Including all research related to China's military cooperation with the countries in the Islamic world and the impact on national and regional security
    • The Trade and Investment Axis: Including all research related to the participation and investment projects in the Islamic world as well as trade relations between private businesses and corporations

    Submission Guidelines and Conditions:

    • Deadline to submit the abstract is July 15, 2019
    • The abstract should be between 300-400 words and must be sent via email to ChinaConf@qu.edu.qa
    • The research must be academic in nature and should critically or innovatively analyze one of the axes
    • The research must not have been previously published elsewhere, and the author gives the right to the Ibn Khaldon Center to publish the full paper
    • A brief biography of the author(s) including research specialization, affiliation, and scientific publications in no more than 200 words
    • Acceptance of the abstract by the committee does not necessitate acceptance of the research paper
    • The Ibn Khaldon Center will cover the costs for accommodation and airfare

    Objectives of the Conference:

    • Achieving intercultural dialogue by providing a scientific platform that brings together academic researchers from the Islamic world and China.
    • Drawing the attention of researchers to the importance of the future China’s presence in the Islamic world and the various impacts and implications on the strategic level
    • Opening new research horizons for postgraduate students for research on various angles of Chinese studies and international relations
