Transfer requirements to College of Pharmacy
We are excited to hear you are considering transferring to Qatar University College of Pharmacy. The college mission is to prepare the students to provide optimal pharmaceutical care and advance health care outcomes, to promote research and scholarly activity, and to serve as a pharmacy resource for Qatar, the Middle East and the world.
As per QU regulations:
- Students may change their academic major given that this change should occur before completing the maximum number of 60 undergraduate credit hours.
- Courses and grades earned prior to changing the academic major will remain in the students’ records and will still be calculated in their cumulative GPA.
- To apply for transfer during the application period for change of Major as announced by the university every semester.
Please note the below about College of Pharmacy requirements:
- Admission to the pharmacy major is extremely competitive and is subject to both the current capacity of the college and college approval; satisfying the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission into the major.
- Applications for transfer will be screened by the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and students who meet the criteria below will be called for an interview by the Student BSc Admission Committee.
- Committee members will rank the applicants based on the specified criteria, their academic performance, interest in pharmacy and promising potential for achieving well in their pharmacy professional years. The final selected students will be approved by the Dean.
College of Pharmacy transfer requirements including students from the school science, technical and art track:
- Minimum high school percentage of 80%
- Minimum GPA of 3.70
- To have achieved a minimum of B+ grade in CHEM 101/103
- To have achieved also a minimum of B+ grade in another science course i.e. BIOL 101, BIOL 110, MATH103, STAT 101
- Mathematics Requirements: minimum New SAT of 570, ACT of 24, QU-Placer Math Scores 235 or MATH P100/ MATH 101 of B
- English Requirements: minimum IELTS of 6 or TOFEL 520 or IBT = 68
If applying to transfer from QU Health colleges i.e. Colleges of Health Sciences, Medicine or Dental Medicine then:
- Minimum high school percentage of 80%
- Minimum GPA of 3.5
- To have achieved a minimum of B grade in the following common year courses:
- MEDI101 Human Structure Function I
- MEDI102 Health Professions Education
- PUBH151 Biostatistics for health sciences
- CHEM101 General Chemistry
- CHEM103 Chemistry Lab 1
- ENGL202 English Language I
- Mathematics Requirements: minimum New SAT of 530, ACT 21 or QU-Placer Math Scores 200 or MATH P100/ MATH 101 of B
- English Requirements: minimum IELTS of 6 or TOFEL 520 or IBT = 68
If one of the above criteria is missing at the time of application then you may get conditional acceptance to achieve this by the end of the academic semester you are applying for.
