    Student Experience Department

    Welcome to our department’s website.

    The primary goal of the Student Experience Department (SED) is to critically enhance the mission of the Student Affairs (SA) sector at Qatar University (QU) by assessing and analyzing the performance, quality, and effectiveness of student services and strategic initiatives related to SA and beyond. Moreover, the SED seeks to engage all QU student affairs services and units in a sustained and evidence-based analysis related to student policies, student success initiatives, and student life in general, both academically and non-academically.

     

    To this end, SED aims to develop, evaluate and review the required quantitative and qualitative process and measures of performance that ensure all Student Affairs guidelines, procedures, and practices are in complete alignment with QU’s strategic mission and vision. Additionally, SED aims to prepare and assemble a variety of vital analytical reports and studies that support Student Affairs sector as well as the QU management planning and decision-making in all strategic and operational levels. 

    The Student Experience Department (SED) is committed to pursuing excellence in higher education by contributing to the mission of the Student Affairs (SA) sector at QU by analyzing critical data and information to support the informed decision-making process, developing research-driven projects, and assessing the services offered within the SA sector in alignment with the university strategic vision. SED seeks to design, coordinate, and enhance quality standards and operational policies related to all QU student affairs processes and practices.

    SED accordingly focuses on the following main tasks:  

    • Quality assessment of Students Affairs programs and services.
    • Policy analysis and implementation.
    • Student Affairs Research.
    • Assessment of strategic initiatives with respect to their corresponding outcomes.
    • Data-mining and analysis.

    Student Data Management Section

    This section is responsible for:

    • Using various analysis and research methods to assist the Student Affairs Sector in directing student retention efforts/initiatives to ensure student success and timely graduation.
    • Assisting and supporting the assessment and operations of Student Affairs programs and services by providing the needed resources with data-mining and analysis.
    • Contribute to Student Affairs research.

    Student Success Section

    This section is responsible for:

    • Managing and administrating the Student Success Management System.
    • Developing student success strategies and initiatives that improve retention, progression and graduation rates for QU students.
    • The assessment of different Student Affairs related strategic initiatives.

    Planning and Coordination Section

    This section is responsible for:

    • Planning, implementation, and monitoring of the operational plans of specific initiatives at Student Affairs.
    • Providing best practices and recommendations to student-related policies.
    • Developing and implementing quality assurance related to programs and services provided by the Student Affairs Sector in compliance with global best practices.

    Current research projects:
     

    The department is currently working on several research projects related to students academic performance, students satisfaction and students retention in the university or at the high school. Also, the department is willing to collaborate with any interested organizations or researchers inside or outside QU.
