The Office of Strategic Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Economic Development (SIEED) has been established in the QU President Office to initiate, manage, and coordinate developments of the President Office enabling strategies and cross-sectors initiatives (such as entrepreneurship and innovation strategy, and digital transformation strategy) in the context of QU Transformation Strategy 2018-2022 and Qatar National Vision 2030. The SIEED Office ultimately supports University wide and cross sectors aligned and integrated implementations of core drivers of socio-economic developments of 21st century knowledge based economies such as digital, innovation, and entrepreneurial initiatives, positioning QU as a catalyst for socio-economic development of Qatar, and hence contributing to realizing the University vision.
The SIEED Office is particularly focused on design, management, and development of holistic “QU Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Economic Development Ecosystem” across all QU sectors and owned QU companies and ventures in integrated manner with the National Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Economic Development ecosystem organizations.
SIEED Office lead, in close collaboration with university sectors and in integration with University owned companies and ventures, the execution of objectives and initiatives of QU Innovation and Entrepreneurship strategy including the design and execution of a wide variety of innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic development programs in terms of competitions, awareness, training, product innovation and development services, and pathways for transfer-licensing-commercialization of technological Innovations and R&D Intellectual Property into economic values. Also in support of university owned ventures or owned startups by students, faculty, researchers, and staff, the SIEED office will offer a chain of consultations, pre-seed funds, business development assistance, startups pre-incubation, incubation, and acceleration programs, and facilitation of access to finance and funds from external partners. SIEED Office will also offer advisory for design and implementation of innovation and entrepreneurship competencies in curriculum and programs, plus several other activities and programs for the development and institutionalization of the ecosystem.
