HOSPITAL PHARMACY
Description
Using select hospital pharmacies and competency-based objectives, students will gain an appreciation for the profession of pharmacy as practiced in the hospital, and develop professional attitudes, judgment, and skills needed to function in this setting. The students will observe and discuss the many roles of the hospital pharmacist and participate in active learning exercises to reinforce learning objectives.
COMMUNITY PHARMACY
Description
Through the utilization of select community pharmacies and competency-based objectives, the student will gain a greater appreciation for the profession of pharmacy as practiced in the community, and develop professional attitudes, judgment and basic skills necessary to function in this setting. The student will observe and discuss the role of the community pharmacist and participate in active learning exercises to reinforce learning objectives.
CLINIC PHARMACY
Description
Through the utilization of public clinic pharmacy practice sites and competency-based objectives, the student will gain appreciation for the clinic pharmacy. Students will begin to develop the professionalism, judgment, and skills needed to function in this setting. The students will observe and discuss the many roles of the clinic pharmacist and participate in active learning exercises to reinforce learning objectives.
PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY
Description
Through placements in local pharmaceutical industry sites and competency-based objectives, students will be able to gain understanding of the pharmaceutical product development process including discovery, preclinical/clinical studies, regulatory-legal issues and marketing. Students will begin to develop the professionalism, judgment, and skills needed to function in this setting. The students will observe and discuss the role of pharmacists surrounding medical product development and the requirements mandated by local and international regulatory agencies to move a product from the discovery stage to market approval.
