    Prerequisites

Students are expected to declare their major when applying to Qatar University. When admitted to the university, students who declare a major in pharmacy are considered "Foundation Pharmacy" students. Once a Foundation Pharmacy student meets all Qatar University Foundation Program requirements, they are eligible to advance to "General Pharmacy" student status.

General Pharmacy students are required to complete a minimum of 31 Credit-Hours of specificed course work by July 1st to be considered eligible to apply to the "Pharmacy Major" status for the September start of the next academic year. Refer to the posted BSc in Pharmacy study plan for details. This includes a minimum of 17 Credit-Hours of general sciences courses and 16 Credit-Hours of first year university courses. Students are strongly encouraged to complete the core curriculum courses identified on the study plan in their pre-pharmacy year. These courses are required for graduation and few opportunities exist during the four professional years of the Pharmacy Major program to complete these requirements. General science and core curriculum courses may be completed at any accredited university or college that is recognized by Qatar University. Students are strongly encouraged to carry full course loads during their Pre-Pharmacy year(s). Application is competitive and based, in part, on academic performance in the general sciences courses. See Admissions section for detail.

TOEFL (or IELTS) scores must be submitted by all applicants along with the balance of their application materials. A minimum TOEFL score of 500 (IELTS 6) is also required for application as instruction and most learning resources are in English.
