The Office of Academic Affairs works diligently to oversee all academic related programs, activities and services at the college. In line with the college’s mission, we seek to develop and enhance our academic programs to fit the needs of our community.
We are keen to ensure the provision of an excellent atmosphere in teaching with an ultimate goal of delivering the best academic programs that prepare students to provide optimal pharmaceutical care and advance health care outcomes.
The responsibilities of the Office of Academic Affairs include but not limited to coordinating assessments, setting guidelines, updating study plans, modernizing and circulating policies, managing curriculum related issues, supporting students at risk and supporting faculty members.
Under our office, we have the following committees:
- Curriculum and Assessment Committee (CAC). The aim of the committee is to fulfill the needs of the college through supporting curricular implementation, review and enhancement and accreditation processes, coordinating the continuous evaluation of all courses, evaluating methods of teaching and routinely reviewing assessment methods and students’ examination results.
- Peer Assessment of Teaching and Learning Enhancement Committee (PATLEC). The aim of this committee is to create within the college, a structured process for mentorship and peer assessment of teaching to be used as a mechanism for supporting faculty development, enhancing teaching and learning quality and to provide one mechanism to satisfy College and University requirements for peer review of teaching assessment.
- Exam Question Review Committee (EQRC): The aim of this committee is to support enhancement of metacognitive abilities of examiners/course coordinators to prepare standardized, accurate, valid, reliable and coherent assessment tools that are able to fairly and transparently assess a student’s level of course mastery while achieving the program learning outcomes. EQRC is mandated to oversee all assessments at the College and Program level to; 1) Develop a standardized procedure for reviewing all exams delivered in the college 2) Provide feedback on all exam items submitted to the committee for review 3) Facilitate professional development of preparing exams 4) To provide support in scheduling of examinations at CPH.
- Program Learning Outcomes Assessment (PLOA) committee is saddled with the task of ensuring the continuous improvement of the quality of the curricular content and delivery of the BSc (Pharmacy), PharmD and MSc (Pharmacy) programs. This task is achieved through an effective coordination of the annual program learning outcomes assessment activities, recommendation of relevant curricular refinements and submission of a detailed annual program learning outcomes assessment reports.
