Educational Resources
The College of Medicine offers a number of educational technology tools designed to optimize and facilitate student learning experience. The College does not use human cadavers or conventional microscopes in the study of human morphology. Instead, a combination of technological tools is deployed in its anatomy learning resource center and clinical skills lab to offer students the most technologically advanced anatomy visualization, microscopy, virtual patient learning, simulations, ultrasonography and other systems of education technology which are adopted by some of the world’s leading medical schools and institutions.
These include:
- The Web Microscope
-
Anatomage table
- Virtual Patient Learning (VPL)
- CMED library and databases
- Anatomy Learning Resource Centre
- Clinical Skills Laboratory
Physical Facilities
The physical infrastructure plays an important role in developing and expanding medical and health education in Qatar. In keeping with this, QU is currently working on the design of two new college buildings for the College of Medicine and the College of Health Sciences. Together with the recently constructed new College of Pharmacy building, the project will create the new QU Health Campus site in the north of QU’s premises with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.
The current building for the College of Medicine (H12) at Qatar University is located on the northern side of the campus and occupies an area of 8751 m2. While this building is temporary, it is equipped with advanced facilities, skills lab, group study rooms, medical museum and gender segregated student lounges and cafeterias.
The Research Laboratory (ResLab) of the College of Medicine is located at H10 Building. It became operational in May 2016, it is well equipped and plans to further expand its technological platforms.
CMED students receive their trainings and clinical placements at affiliated clinical sites at Hamad Medical Corporation, Primary HealthCare Centers and Sidra Medicine.
