    About the Department

    Established in 1984, the curriculum of the Department of Biomedical Sciences was formulated in collaboration with leading healthcare agencies in Qatar to prepare a qualified workforce for diagnostic laboratories and to provide students with professional and rewarding careers in clinical laboratories or further postgraduate studies. In addition to the structured curriculum, the Department emphasizes independent learning and the development of professional skills through dynamic in-classroom learning, practical laboratory sessions, seminars, a capstone research project and clinical internship. The department facilitates the career path for graduates to apply their acquired knowledge, skills, and competencies in clinical laboratories and research. The Department of Biomedical Sciences offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biomedical sciences.

    Vision

    The vision of the Biomedical Science Department is to prepare medical technologists and researchers—by way of an accredited and standardized education-- to apply their knowledge and skills to enhance the healthcare sector in Qatar. Our graduates are committed to life-long learning and adapt to the changing needs of society.

     

    Mission

    The mission of the Biomedical Science Department is to provide quality education that prepares competent Biomedical Scientists, equipping them with theoretical and practical knowledge, critical thinking and analytical skills, scientific research abilities, and communication skills, while also emphasizing ethical practice within the healthcare industry.
