While selecting a potential external reviewer for Master candidate’s thesis, the following principles will be applied:
- the external examiner shall not have published any paper, co-supervise any student or ask for any grants with the supervisor over the five years preceding the thesis defense;
- the candidate shall not have published any paper with the external examiner;
- the external examiner shall not have assisted in the writing of thesis;
- the external examiner shall not be the candidate’s friend;
- preferably, the external examiner will show some experience in thesis supervision;
- the external examiner will have some recent publications which will be reflecting his other experience and activity in research;
- the external examiner and supervisor should not graduate from the same Ph.D. program nor have the same supervisor or co-supervisor.
- there will be an obvious link between the external examiner expertise and the thesis topic.
