Research Poster Awards

 


As a part of the activities for the 2024 Annual Research Forum and Exhibition, Qatar University (QU) is organizing a poster session for QU staff who are faculty members, post docs, graduate students and undergraduate students. The best posters will be awarded in three categories covering four disciplines.

Categories and Disciplines

The categories:*

  1. Faculty and PostDoc
  2. Graduate Students
  3. Undergraduate Students

The disciplines:*

  1. Energy and Environment
  2. Social Sciences and Humanities
  3. Health and Biomedical Sciences
  4. Information and Communications Technologies (ICT)

* Make sure to select ONE category and ONE discipline. Put these in the top-right corner of the poster (that is to say, in the corner at your left hand side)

There is no template available. You can use your preferred software to design your poster. Make sure to adhere to the poster guidelines:

Important notes:

  • The poster layout should be in portrait orientation only.
  • At least one of the primary authors of the poster must be present during the judging day (date and time will be announced later), to give 3-5 min. “elevator talk” regarding the poster, and to answer questions (if any).
  • The poster has not been submitted during any previous research forum.
  • The abstracts must fulfill the guidelines indicated on the QU Annual Research Forum and Exhibition 2024 website.
  • Awards will be given ONLY to posters that meet the outlined criteria.

Awards

The top posters, selected by a designated committee based on

  1. The Best Poster Award for Faculty and Postdoc
  2. The Best Poster Award for Graduate Students
  3. The Best Poster Award for Undergraduate Students

The award will be given based on a combination of factors including:

  • The quality of research presented in the poster
  • Impact of the presented work on scholarly community and/or society
  • Visual impact of the poster and overall messaging

Each award will include:

  1. Certificate recognizing the effort
  2. A medal

Posters Publishing and Reviewing:

After poster acceptance by the reviewing committee, participants have the option to agree to publish their posters in QSpace.

Deadlines

  • Deadline for receiving the electronic version of the poster is September 14, 2024.
  • Poster evaluation to be announced in early November 2024.

* There will be no extension of the deadline.
